Helvar lights up Oasis of the Seas
The largest Cruise Ship ever - Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines M/S Oasis of the Seas - started sailing from Fort Lauderdale in Florida in December 2009. The most innovative and imaginative ship yet is designed around 7 neighbourhood concepts, each with a distinct personality and range of sights and activities. From the awe-inspiring ocean-side seating of the Aqua Theatre to the lush green landscape of Central Park, there's something for everyone to discover. With 28 ultra-modern loft suites and 2,700 spacious staterooms, this 17-deck marvel proves that the impossible, is possible.

Helvar Certified Partner in Finland, Electrosonic Oy Ab, delivered the ship-wide Helvar lighting control system for all the public spaces, for the Royal Promenade, Loft and A-suite cabins and also the ship's Deck lighting control system. Electrosonic also delivered selected effect lighting and professional colour changing LED luminaires for the Boardwalk, Promenade and Aqua Theatre areas.
Seamless integration

The lighting control systems in the public spaces utilize the latest Helvar Imagine 920 Router based technology. All the public spaces are seamlessly integrated to operate as one ship-wide dimming system. This networked system is the key in commanding the multitude of manual and automated lighting scenes onboard, altering both the interior and exterior moods of the ship. The system was not only designed to maximize the passenger comfort, but also to meet the latest energy saving standards and to support remote monitoring and controllability through an IT networked solution. This remote system access allows changes in the settings of the lighting, monitoring, diagnostics and possible repair from a shore, far away from vessel itinerary. Through the Helvar router system, integration to the ships AV & entertainment systems was also provided.

Through Electrosonic, Helvar has been involved in a total of 10 Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines ships and will also deliver systems to the upcoming Allure of the Seas, a sister ship to the Oasis.
